Open Water Diver 18 meters
During the PADI Open Water Diver course, you'll learn how to explore the underwater world using scuba equipment.

Most people find this training a rewarding challenge. The Open Water Diver course consists of three parts:

  • Knowledge development
  • Confined water diving
  • Open Water Dives

Knowledge Development covers the principles, concepts and terms you need to know to dive safely and have fun. During Confined Water Dives, you learn and practice diving skills in a pool or in waters with similar conditions.

You enjoy one or more mini-dives, during which you follow the same procedures as you would during open water dives.

To complete your training, you practice, apply and demonstrate what you have learned during four open water dives at a local site.

Earning your PADI Open Water Diver certificate demonstrates that you have met the course requirements.

Dive Centres and Dive Resorts require certification before allowing you to rent scuba equipment, fill tanks and book dive trips. As an Open Water Diver, you will be trained to a maximum depth of 18 metres/60 feet and qualified to dive in conditions that are equal to or better than those in which you were trained. It will truly be the start of a lifetime of diving adventures.
